Websites vs Houses

When trying to explain what a website is to tech-challenged people the best way I've been able to explain what a website is, is by calling it an online house or a virtual house.

Websites are houses! Yes websites are houses, and they hold your contents. Not tables, beds, plates and chairs, it holds pictures, videos, logos and text. When you have these things mixed together your on the way to a website.
The website can be broken down into two areas just like how houses can be broken down into two areas. 1) How To Find and 2) Content Holder
Website or House = 1) How To Find + 2) Content Holder
Website = Domain Name + Web Hosting
House = Address + (Bricks & Mortar / Floor, Walls and Roof)

Websites vs. Houses
The Domain and the address tell you where to find it, the Web hosting and the bricks & mortar hold the contents.
Now l think most people will be able to understand this explanation of what a website is or should I say just because most people know what a house is and by relating the website to the house that makes it easier to understand.

Nice comparison Dwayne. It may help people who doesn't know about website. I feel that the comparison could have been much better.

Hey Dwayne Ker Ker Ker… Your last name doesn't sound like a swear word, lol. However good analogy used here. I will keep this in mind when trying to explain this to others.
Sometimes you just have to keep things simply to understand things.
